Brenda Bishop Decher, a beloved resident of Milltown, NJ, passed away on October 1, 2025. Born on May 18, 1955, in New Brunswick, NJ, Brenda's life was marked by her unwavering spirit, deep compassion, and a genuine love for those around her.
Brenda graduated from Rutgers Prep School, where she began to cultivate her passion for learning and connection. Throughout her life, she embraced the roles of mother and caregiver with grace and dedication. She was married three times, first to Gary Mahana, with whom she welcomed her son, Douglas Mahana. Her second marriage to Andrew McBride brought her two more cherished children, Allison and Patrick McBride. In 2000, she found love again with her husband, David Decher, who became her steadfast partner.
Brenda devoted many years to her family business, Bishop Electric Motors, before transitioning to a fulfilling career at Home Depot, where she met David. Her nurturing nature was evident in her early work as a pediatric nurse and later as a nurse at Princeton House, where she made a significant impact on the lives of her patients and their families.
In her later years, Brenda pursued her interests with enthusiasm, including her passion for investigating hauntings and showcasing her handmade jewelry at the Columbus Flea Market. Known for her engaging conversations and stimulating debates, Brenda had a remarkable ability to connect with others, making friends easily and leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Brenda is predeceased by her parents, James Arnold Bishop (2010) and Rosemarie Capizzi Bishop (2021), and her brother, James A. Bishop Jr. (2000). She is survived by her loving husband, David Decher, her three children, Douglas, Allison, and Patrick, her niece Monica Bishop, her nephew Jessie Bishop, and her two beloved grandchildren, Rozy and Lily.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by Bronson and McNamara Memorial Home, with no viewings scheduled. A Celebration of Life will be held later this month to honor Brenda's remarkable journey and the love she shared with all who knew her.
Brenda Bishop Decher will be remembered for her big heart, her unwavering spirit, and the joy she brought to the lives of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who loved her.
